I came across this simple diagram the other day that says the important things about why people in organisations do (or don't) change. Just read each box. Then if you think you are striking resistance to change - ask yourself (and those impacted) which boxes you haven't ticked off properly and what you need to do about it.

This diagram reminds us that usually the reason people don't change is because they are working in a system that doesn't provide what human beings need to embrace change.
In my work with organisations I have found that leaders often need help to see what is preventing behaviour change - and to look at the situation through the eyes of the people affected.
